A cricket bat is a modified piece of equipment that batsmen use to strike the ball in the sport of cricket. It usually consists of a cane handle connected to a flat-fronted willow-wood blade. A batter who is making their ground will do it to prevent being run out if they keep the bat and hit the ground with it. The bat must be no longer than 38 inches (965 mm) in length and no wider than 4.25 inches in width (108 mm). The first time it was seen was in 1624. Since 1979, a law has required bats to be made entirely of wood.
The British, who controlled India at the time, brought in the willow used to make bats in Kashmir during the 1820s. Traditional tools are mixed with new technologies in this industry. Anantnag, Baramula, and Pahalgam are some of the Kashmiri districts where these bats are made. Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan produce traditional Indian cricket bats. They are made of willow from northern India in Kashmir.
Some bats made in Kashmir are of international quality and have been used by national players such as Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh from India. English willow bats with slight visual flaws, such as not perfectly straight grains or discolorations, are often less expensive. Former England captain and one of the most effective Test players in history, Geoffrey Boycott, has claimed that such bats would perform just as well as more expensive ones, and that players should buy the cheaper ones to get the same results at a lower price.
Furthermore, with global demand for cricket bats expected to hit 4 million per year by 2020, the future of this industry appears bright, as Kashmir willow accounts for roughly 60% of all bats made in India. Furthermore, with an annual compound growth rate of about 8.4%, the potential turnover from the export of this product is expected to reach $100 million by 2030.
India's top cricket bat manufacturers. Cricket bats have evolved dramatically over time. It had initially adopted two laws. First and foremost, it should be a Kashmir or English willow. Second, the measurements will be 956 mm x 108 mm. Bats, on the other hand, are now tailored to the needs of batsmen. Carbon-reinforced fiber polymer is used down the bat, handle sizes vary, bats weigh less than bats used in the 1990s, and so on. As a whole there is a good scope for new entrepreneur to invest in this business.
